Wonderful stay - would highly recommend

We had a wonderful stay at Can Gallo. Josep, Rosa and “La Abuela” (Rosa’s mom) are most warm, welcoming and helpful hosts. On our arrival, they welcomed us as if we were friends of the family, and throughout our 5-day stay, were available to answer any request we had or questions about the farm, the area, local history, etc. They pointed us to hikes that could be done from the farm (and provided us with maps and pointers) and suggested car outings. Josep had our 5-year-old daughter help him feed the lamb and chickens, and herd sheep – we really felt as if we were like family friends. The room (L’Herbera) was quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The guest living area (a converted barn) was large, clean and comfortable with toys and books for kids, amenities for self-catered meals or snacks, comfy sofas in front of a huge fireplace which Josep insisted on lighting each night, wide-screen tv with cable and a selection of videos for young and old. Food was good, hearty and, in large part, made at the farm (sausages, cakes, jams, fresh eggs, cherries from the orchard, fresh cheese etc. for breakfast, not to speak of the chicken and lamb dinners we had... delicious and, well, as local as it gets...). The setting is another highlight of the place. You can sit quietly amongst the fruit trees at the edge of the large well-maintained grounds and contemplate the Camprodon valley below, lounge in a hammock and read, or head off for a hike, short or long, right from the farm. Our daughter also had fun getting chummy with the farm cats and dogs (one pet dog, two working dogs). We loved our stay at Can Gallo, we highly recommend it and, in a word, we very much would love to stay there again some day.
