- Santander:
This is a port city and capital of the autonomous region of Cantabria, situated on the northern coast of Spain, between Asturias and the Basque Country. It borders with the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Bezana and Camargo as well as the bay to the north.
- Langre beach:
This beach is around 1 km long in high tide and is surrounded by 25 metre high cliffs together with a coastal incline. In reality, it is divided into two stretches, one small and the other longer and which can be accessed by walking down some steps. The furthest section is frequented by nudists.
Popular with surfers given the excellent orientation of the beach, with waves that are considered as acceptable for this sport, given that they can reach a considerable size although they do not last very long. Underwater diving is carried out close to the cliffs. We have a rocky seabed that houses a wide variety of sealife. However, the visibility underwater for diving is similar to the rest of the Cantabrian coastline, and can range from average to reduced.
- Loredo beach:
Loredo is one of the most important tourist centres in the municipality of Ribamontán al Mar, thanks to its location at the end of one of the longest stretches of beach in Cantabria. This beach is the venue for a traditional horse race, the famous Loredo Derby, held on wet sand and low tide, an event which attracts thousands of spectators. Nearby, we find the small beach called Tranquilos, opposite the island of Santa Marina. Knowing that Loredo is opposite Santander, a large number of tourists staying in the capital cross over to Loredo on a small boat, given that its beaches are less crowded and more peaceful.
In Loredo, you will find the well-known Nuestra Señora de Latas Sanctuary, the most important architectural monument in this Town Hall. Its festival is held on September 8th and is very popular, a sanctuary for worshipers from throughout the region.
- Galizano beach:
This is situated in the town of the same name, within the municipality of Ribamontán al Mar. More precisely it is located at the estuary of the La Canal ria, previously the River Herrero. A beautiful small beach with scattered rocks, encircled by undulating cliffs, provides a peaceful setting, ideal for all the family. This is quite a secluded beach with small coves to protect you from the wind; such as La Playuca, an unusual place where you can relax and read or enjoy the unbeatable beauty of the waves crashing against the rocks of Riaño and Los Cañones. In the surrounding area we find the Cucabrera Cave and its viewpoint over the cliffs, with views that stretch from Santander, el Sardinero and Cabo Mayor to as far as Santoña. The whole coastline opens up in unparalleled scenic beauty. Hidden away under the cliffs we discover places that give off that distinctive smell of the sea and salt, with crabs, barnacles and other seafood. El Nial, Fonfría, La Llera, El Vivar, Solombreras and Brenas are the fishing sites in Ribamontán on the coast of Galizano.
- Somo:
in the municipality of Ribamontán al Mar, with a population of 1576 and 5364 km². This is the main tourist destination in the area and one of the most important in the autonomous region. It connects with Pedreña, in the municipality of Marina de Cudeyo, by means of the famous Somo bridge. It is linked to Santander by small boats with a regular timetable. The main attraction is its lengthy beach at one end called El puntal, an enormous stretch of sand dunes entering the bay. Somo has a sea promenade offering beautiful views of the bay of Santander. The town has a wide variety of services and tourist facilities. Its festival coincides with Loredo, la Virgen de Latas, on September 8th.
- Cabárceno:
The Cabárceno Wildlife Park is situated in the Pisueño Valley How to get there?
