The owner's comments
Faraz property is placed in Vilharigues, a small settlement, located 4 Km away from the beautiful village of Vouzela, and 7 Km away from the well known thermal waters of the spa of S. Pedro do Sul. Vilharigues invites you to take long walks on foot along the villages and monuments which surround it. Our guests may get to know a great number of interesting aspects in the Lafões region, whether they regard the landscape, the architecture, the historical events, the local workmanship or even the gastronomy. The property’s house dates from the earlier XX century, having been submitted to extensive repair work, offering a peaceful and very sheltering atmosphere by its own scenery composed of old family antiques, filled with history. Faraz possesses fruit trees of several kinds, and as its own honey production, which our guests will have the opportunity to taste, besides the homemade jams and liquors. There are also the tanks made of stone with the pleasure presence of golden and river fishes. We welcome you into our home, sure that you will have a wonderful time.

Interesting places

- São Pedro do Sul ( 7 km)
- We can make reference to the medieval tower of Vilharigues, which can be seen and from the property and visited, or yet to the towers of Alcofra and Cambra. One may also pay a visit to the old "Castro" in Paços de Vilharigues and to the paleo-christian sepulcher, or walk across the ancient roman road that links Paços de Vilharigues and Vouzela; Within the village there is still the chance to see the roman bridge and the old railway bridge used as the village’s "ex-líbris". - Vouzela is within Viseu’s district, one of the oldest cities of Portugal , with lots of sightseeing like Portuguese art museums and its cathedral. - Vouzela’s Mother-Church (Vouzela): this small church is located on a pleasant place, on the base of Our Lady of the Castle hill. It’s one of the Beira Alta temples that still maintain the medieval architectonic structure. - Our Lady of Purification convent (Moimenta da Beira): the convent, with the façade turned towards a wide square, is located inside an urbane atmosphere. Over the high choir’s bars one can admire a beautiful tiles panel. - S. Pedro do Sul Spa (S. Pedro do Sul): this spa remounts to the Roman period that, in that time, already knew the healing properties of the water. The Thermal Centre of São Pedro do Sul is opened all year with different working hours adapted to the seasons and the clients needs. - Arnas’s Church (Sernancelhe): this church from the 17th century, dedicated to Our Lady of Conceição, was built in slightly golden granite. In this church are to point out, for their extreme beauty, the altars and the nave roof, where there’s a huge painting of the patron saint. - Sernancelhe’s Church (Sernancelhe): its description is almost impossible, due to multiplicity of its elements. From the belfry, to the carved altars and the 15th century tomb, this church is filled with real masterpieces that, by themselves, make a visit worthwhile. - Largo da Sé - Cathedral (Viseu): The severe Renaissance facade of this cathedral evokes a fortress. Two lofty bell towers, unadorned stone up to the summit of the balustrades, with crowning cupolas, are visible from almost any point in or around town. The second-story windows -- two rectangular and one oval -- are latticed and symmetrically surrounded by niches containing religious statuary. - On your right, you´ll first find the two-story Renaissance cloister, adorned with classic pillars and arcades faced with tiles. The cathedral interior is essentially Gothic but infused with Manueline and baroque decorations. Plain, slender Romanesque columns line the nave, supporting the vaulted Manueline ceiling with nautically roped groining. The basic color scheme inside plays brilliant gilding against muted gold stone. - Museu de Grão Vasco (Viseu): This museum, next door to the cathedral, was named after the 16th-century painter, also known as Vasco Fernandes. The Portuguese master´s major works are on display; especially notable is La Pontecôte, in which lancelike tongues of fire hurtle toward the saints, some devout, others apathetic.
